Hamster Dance Rules are Simple!

The Tripoli Unified Safety Code will be in affect for this Launch. You must be a Tripoli Level 2 Member, or higher, to participate in Hamster Dance.

You need not be in the competition to fly, however you must adhere to the rules of the launch. Whether you are competing or just flying for fun, you are eligible to win something!
  • In 2021 we removed the altitude ceiling, go for it!

  • No rocket can exceed 5 lbs (2268 grams) lift-off weight. No metal parts. Quik-Links, anchors and eye screws are OK!

  • Research Motors only. No metal casings, only plastic, phenolic, fiberglass or paper. 

  • All motors must be single use and you must make your own motor(s), no second party motors permitted except as noted next.

  • Participants residing outside the continental U.S.A. can delegate a motor maker to fabricate their motor to their specifications, (formula, nozzle, construction requirements, etc.) and MUST be approved by the HD committee. The fabricator must be present.  No Commercial ventures permitted.

  • All rockets must have a recovery device. Tumble Recovery or glide recovery is not permitted.

  • No clusters, staging or Darts permitted.

  • Electronics are permitted though not required. But how else will you verify your altitude if needed? Rockets without electronics are not entitled to win anything.
  • Multiple and Recycled flights are permitted.

  • Launch controller and only two pads with very limited launch support will be provided. Two 1010 standard rails will be provided. Rods are not permitted. If you need other than that it is advisable that your bring your own launch pad.

  • Entries must be returned to the Hamster Dance Committee by 5pm Friday September 20th, 2024.

  • First launch can go when the BALLS COA is opened and launches can continue until 5pm, or last rocket back if earlier. Usually almost everyone blows up early. No Launch Site Registration.

  • All rockets must be inspected and approved by the HAMSTER DANCE RSO/LCO - Robin Meredith
